General Information: This species is Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, nonmotile, with ovoid to rod-shaped cells isolated from soil. Optimum temperature range is 27-29 degrees C. Strains can oxidize L-sorbose to 2-keto-L-gulonic acid, a key intermediate in the synthesis of vitamin C. Isolated from soil.
