General Information: Bacteria of the genus Arthrobacter are ubiquitous in the environment. Arthrobacter nitroguajacolicus strain Rü61a was previously isolated from sludge of the biological wastewater treatment plant of a coal tar refining company, based on its ability to utilize quinaldine (2-methylquinoline) as source of carbon and energy.
