General Information: This group of Enterobactericiae have pathogenic characteristics and are one of the most common causes of enteric infections (food poisoning) worldwide. General Information: This type strain was isolated from the bronchus of a male Japanese patient. Opportunistic human pathogen. This genus was originally described from specimens isolated by plating soil suspensions on diagnostic sensitivity test plates augmented with antifungal agents. Organisms in this genus cause opportunistic human pulmonary and systemic nocardiosis. This can complicate existing debilitating conditions such as leukemia, lymphoma, or other neoplasms, or illnesses in patients with compromised immune systems.
