Bacillus clausii is able to tolerate high pH levels and produces alkaline-tolerant enzymes particularly alkaline proteases. B. clausii have been isolated from soil and water. This organism has also been reported to have a beneficial effect in the human gut and is being considered for use as a probiotic.
