Query: NC_015577:3113907 Treponema azotonutricium ZAS-9 chromosome, complete genome
Lineage: Treponema azotonutricium; Treponema; Spirochaetaceae; Spirochaetales; Spirochaetes; Bacteria
General Information: Treponema azotonutricium was one of the first organisms isolated in pure culture from the hindgut of the Pacific dampwood termite Zootermopsis angusticollis. The physiology of this organism has been studied to provide information on its contribution to the growth and survival of termites.
Subject: NC_018581:1180951 Gordonia sp. KTR9 chromosome, complete genome
Lineage: Gordonia; Gordonia; Gordoniaceae; Actinomycetales; Actinobacteria; Bacteria
General Information: Isolated from soil at an explosives testing facility. Can transform hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), a cyclic nitramine explosive. Many military ranges in the United States and Canada are contaminated with explosive and propellant residues. Of the nitroaromatic and nitramine explosives that exist on these sites, hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX) has a low sorption capacity and can migrate through soil into surface water and groundwater.
