Query: NC_014314:1148000 Dehalogenimonas lykanthroporepellens BL-DC-9 chromosome, complete
Lineage: Dehalogenimonas lykanthroporepellens; Dehalogenimonas; ; Dehalococcoidales; Chloroflexi; Bacteria
General Information: Dehalogenimonas lykanthroporepellens BL-DC-9 is a strictly anaerobic, reductively dechlorinating Gram-negative bacterium isolated from groundwater at a superfund (law designs to clean up sites contaminated with hazardous substances) site located near Baton Rouge, USA, in an area contaminated by high concentrations of several chlorinated alkanes and alkenes. Dehalogenimonas lykanthroporepellens is able to reductively dehalogenate polychlorinated alkanes such as 1,2,3-trichloropropane and 1,2-dichloroethane.
Subject: NC_013169:2581500 Kytococcus sedentarius DSM 20547, complete genome
Lineage: Kytococcus sedentarius; Kytococcus; Dermacoccaceae; Actinomycetales; Actinobacteria; Bacteria
General Information: Country: USA; Temp: Mesophile; Temp: 28 - 36C; Habitat: Marine, Skin microflora. Strain DSM 20547, the type strain, is a free-living, nonmotile, Gram-positive bacterium, originally isolated from a marine environment in about 1944. It grows as spherical/coccoid and occurs predominantly in tetrads which can be arranged in cubical packets. It is non-encapsulated and does not form endospores, is strictly aerobic and chemoorganotrophic, requires methionine and other amino acids for growth, and grows well in NaCl at concentrations up to 10% (w/v). This organism is a normal commensal of human skin, however has been implicated in pitted keratolysis, pneumonia, and other opportunistic infections.
