Query: NC_013422:2004478 Halothiobacillus neapolitanus c2, complete genome Lineage: Halothiobacillus neapolitanus; Halothiobacillus; Halothiobacillaceae; Chromatiales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria General Information: Isolation: Sulfide-rich natural spa; Temp: Mesophile; Temp: 30 - 40C. Halothiobacillus neapolitanus is a sulfur-oxidizing, chemoautotrophic, Gram-negative bacterium able to tolerate high concentrations of sulfide. This organism fixes CO2 using a polyhedral body called a carboxysome which contains the primary carbon fixing enzyme, ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase.

General Information: This is gram-negative bacterium pathogenic in plants. Characterized as causing halo blight on beans (Phaseolus vulgaris). This bacterium is closely related to Pseudomonas syringae pv. glycinea and Pseudomonas syringae pv. savastanoi and produces phaseolotoxin, which is a phytotoxin. Strain 1448A is a natural occurring rifampicin-resistant mutant strain and contains a non-functional homolog of avrPphE.
