General Information: Formerly Halobacterium lacusprofundi, this organism is an extremely halophilic archaeon isolated from Deep Lake, Antarctica. Extremely halophilic archaeon isolated from the Antarctic. Halorubrum lacusprofundi is a red pigmented halophilic archaeon which has been found in hypersaline marine enviornments.
