This organism causes periodontal disease and can also be an opportunistic pathogens, causing septicemia, peritonitis, endocarditis and conjunctivitis in susceptible patients. These are Gram-negative, anaerobic gliding bacteria isolated from normal human supragingival plaque and from periodontal lesions.
