General Information: Bordetella petrii strain DSM12804 was initially isolated from river sediment. Unlike other members of the genus, this organism is not known to be associated with humans or other warm-blooded animals. It is ubiquitous in the environment and is a food and waterborne pathogen that affects animals as well as humans by causing gastroenteritis like Yersinia enterocolitica.
