Query: NC_009921:6447151 Frankia sp. EAN1pec, complete genome Lineage: Frankia; Frankia; Frankiaceae; Actinomycetales; Actinobacteria; Bacteria General Information: This strain was isolated at the Kettering Research Laboratory in Ohio, USA by M. Lalonde in 1978. It is resistant to lincomycin, kasugamycin, novobiocin, and, like many actinomycetes, to nalidixic acid. General Information: Country: USA; Temp: Mesophile; Temp: 28 - 36C; Habitat: Marine, Skin microflora. Strain DSM 20547, the type strain, is a free-living, nonmotile, Gram-positive bacterium, originally isolated from a marine environment in about 1944. It grows as spherical/coccoid and occurs predominantly in tetrads which can be arranged in cubical packets. It is non-encapsulated and does not form endospores, is strictly aerobic and chemoorganotrophic, requires methionine and other amino acids for growth, and grows well in NaCl at concentrations up to 10% (w/v). This organism is a normal commensal of human skin, however has been implicated in pitted keratolysis, pneumonia, and other opportunistic infections.
