Query: NC_009719:336000 Parvibaculum lavamentivorans DS-1 chromosome, complete genome

Lineage: Parvibaculum lavamentivorans; Parvibaculum; Rhodobiaceae; Rhizobiales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria

General Information: An aerobic, non-motile, Gram-negative, short rod. It is motile when growing with acetate, octane or in complex medium. It is able to metabolize a wide range of anionic and non-ionic surfactants and utilizes all representatives of the two major classes of surfactants used in laundry products in Germany, anionics and non-ionics. The epithet "lavamentivorans" stands for "consuming (chemicals) used for washing". Parvibaculum lavamentivorns is able to degrade linear alkylbenzenesulfonate and other surfactants making this organism useful in industrial and bioremediation applications. Strain DS-1 was enriched from a sewage treatment plant.

Subject: NC_010814:3332088 Geobacter lovleyi SZ, complete genome

Lineage: Geobacter lovleyi; Geobacter; Geobacteraceae; Desulfuromonadales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria

General Information: Su-Zi Creek sediment was collected near a suburban residential area with no reported contamination in June 2002 near Seoul, South Korea. This species was isolated from creek sediment based on its ability to derive energy from acetate oxidation coupled to tetrachloroethene (PCE)-to-cis-1,2-dichloroethene (cis-DCE) dechlorination.
