General Information: Isolated from Resurrection Bay in the Gulf of Alaska. It is a model oligotrophic organism and forms a very small cell size. his genus was created from the Sphingomonas genus on the basis of phylogenetic, phenotypic, and chemotaxonomic characteristics.
