Query: NC_009486:346665 Thermotoga petrophila RKU-1 chromosome, complete genome Lineage: Thermotoga petrophila; Thermotoga; Thermotogaceae; Thermotogales; Thermotogae; Bacteria General Information: Thermotoga petrophila strain RKU-1 is an anaerobic thermophile, isolated from the production waters of the Kubiki oil reservoir in Niigata, Japan. This organism, a member of the Thermotogales, has the characteristic morphology of one or more cells contained in a sheath-like envelope which extends beyond the cell wall. Preliminary sequencing of Thermotogales genomes has identified extensive horizontal gene transfer between these organisms and the Archaea.

General Information: Acidovorax ebreus is able to anaerobically oxidize iron and uranium when coupled with the reduction of nitrate. Acidovorax ebreus sp. TPSY may be important for the remediation of uranium in contaminated environments. Isolated from groundwater collected from the U.S. Department of Energy Integrated Field Research Challenge site at Oak Ridge, TN, USA.
