Query: NC_009428:1827352 Rhodobacter sphaeroides ATCC 17025 chromosome, complete genome
Lineage: Rhodobacter sphaeroides; Rhodobacter; Rhodobacteraceae; Rhodobacterales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria
General Information: Bacteria belonging to the Rhodobacter group are metabolically versatile as they are able to grow using photosynthesis, chemosynthesis, and usually can grow under both anaerobic and aerobic conditions. It can grow aerobically and anaerobically in the light and anaerobically in the dark. It produces an intracytoplasmic membrane system consisting of membrane invaginations where the light harvesting complexes (LH1 and LH2) and the reaction center are synthesized.
Subject: NC_014006:2999500 Sphingobium japonicum UT26S chromosome 1, complete genome
Lineage: Sphingobium japonicum; Sphingobium; Sphingomonadaceae; Sphingomonadales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria
General Information: Sphingobium japonicum (strain NBRC 101211 / UT26S) is a yellow-pigmented, non-motile, aerobic, hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH)-degrading Gram-negative bacterium isolated from a dumpsite in the vicinity of an industry that has been producing lindane. HCH has been used extensively as insect control agents in the health and agriculture fields. Sphingobium japonicum, formerly Sphingomonas paucimobilis, is able to degrade hexachlorocyclohexane which has been used extensively as insect control agents in the health and agriculture fields.
