Lineage: Xanthomonas campestris; Xanthomonas; Xanthomonadaceae; Xanthomonadales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria

General Information: The original was isolated from an inflected cauliflower in Sussex, United Kingdom, in 1958. Strain 8004 is a spontaneous rifampicin resistant strain. Causes black rot disease in crucifers. These organisms are almost exclusively found associated with their plant hosts and are not found free in the soil.
