General Information: Cow rumen bacterium. Wolinella succinogenes is most commonly isolated from the bovine rumen and is considered nonpathogenic, however, this organism has also been isolated from the human gingiva and dental root canal infections.

General Information: This bacterium, formerly Enterobacter sakazakii, is associated with infant septicemia, meningitis, and necrotizing enterocolitis. Originally isolated from powdered formula, it has also been shown to compartmentalize cerebral ventricles and cause brain abcesses in neonates. This species produces a yellow pigment when grown at 30 degrees C, but this fades at 37 degrees C.
