Query: NC_018691:2254566 Alcanivorax dieselolei B5 chromosome, complete genome Lineage: Alcanivorax dieselolei; Alcanivorax; Alcanivoracaceae; Oceanospirillales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria General Information: Aerobic, motile, halophilic, alkane degrader, Gram-negative bacterium isolated from oil-contaminated surface water of the Bohai Sea at the Yellow River dock at the side of the Shengli oilfield. This organims is an efficient degrader of C5-C36 alkanes. This property makes it a good microorganism for further development towards a bioremediation tool for oil pollution in marine enviroment.

General Information: This organism was isolated from creosote-contaminated soil from the Champion International Superfund site in Libby, Montana, USA. This microbe, along with some others collected at this site, is able to rapidly mineralize 14C-labeled pyrene. Phylogenetic studies based on the rRNA 16S gene confirmed that strains collected at this site were distinct from one another and also from other known Mycobacterium isolates.
