Query: NC_017079:2243451 Caldilinea aerophila DSM 14535 = NBRC 104270, complete genome Lineage: Caldilinea aerophila; Caldilinea; Caldilineaceae; Caldilineales; Chloroflexi; Bacteria General Information: Caldilinea aerophila strain STL-6-O1T was isolated from a sulfur-turf sample in a pH neutral Japanese hot spring. It stains gram-negative and is facultatively aerobic: it grows both aerobically and anaerobically (fermentatively). Optimal growth occurs at 55 degrees C, pH 7.5 - 8.0. It requires yeast extract.

General Information: Naphthalene-degrading bacterium. Polaromonas naphthalenivorans was isolated from naphthalene-contaminated, freshwater sediment. This organism is capable of aerobic degradation of naphthalene at temperatures of less than 20 degrees C. Naphthalene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH). PAHs can be toxic and/or carcinogenic, therefore PAH contamination is of considerable concern.
