General Information: This group of Enterobactericiae have pathogenic characteristics and are one of the most common causes of enteric infections (food poisoning) worldwide. General Information: This chemoautotrophic strain was isolated from Mono Lake in California, which contains arsenic and has high pH and salt concentrations. Arsenite-oxidizing bacterium. Alkalilimnicola ehrlichei is capable of growth with arsenite [As(III)] as the electron donor with nitrate as electron acceptor. It may be responsible for production of arsenate [As(V)] in anoxic lake bottom.
