General Information: This group of Enterobactericiae have pathogenic characteristics and are one of the most common causes of enteric infections (food poisoning) worldwide. This strain was isolated in Japan in 2000. It is of definitive phage type 12 (DT12) and resistant against mulitple antimicrobials including fluoroquinolones.

General Information: This bacterium, formerly Enterobacter sakazakii, is associated with infant septicemia, meningitis, and necrotizing enterocolitis. Originally isolated from powdered formula, it has also been shown to compartmentalize cerebral ventricles and cause brain abcesses in neonates. This species produces a yellow pigment when grown at 30 degrees C, but this fades at 37 degrees C.
