General Information: Treponema primitia was one of the first organisms isolated in pure culture from the hindgut of the Pacific dampwood termite Zootermopsis angusticollis. The physiology of this organism has been studied to provide information on its contribution to the growth and survival of termites.

General Information: This bacterium, formerly Enterobacter sakazakii, is associated with infant septicemia, meningitis, and necrotizing enterocolitis. Originally isolated from powdered formula, it has also been shown to compartmentalize cerebral ventricles and cause brain abcesses in neonates. This species produces a yellow pigment when grown at 30 degrees C, but this fades at 37 degrees C.
