Query: NC_014733:2095996 Methylovorus sp. MP688 chromosome, complete genome Lineage: Methylovorus; Methylovorus; Methylophilaceae; Methylophilales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria General Information: Methylotrophic bacteria are a group of bacteria which are able to grow aerobically at the expense of methanol as the sole source of carbon and energy, and therefore could serve as biocatalysts for the conversion of methanol to commercially valuable multicarbon compounds like amino acids and cytochromes. Pink-pigmented facultative methylotrophs of the genus Methylovorus are ubiquitous in soil, air and water environments. The MP688 strain was isolated from soil as an PQQ producer.

General Information: Clostridium acidiurici is an obligate anaerobic Gram-positive bacterium that is motile and spore-forming. It can be isolated from almost every soil but can also be found in the intestinal tract of birds. It is able to use purines like uric acid as sole carbon, nitrogen and energy source to build ammonia, carbon dioxide and acetic acid. Unlike most other Clostridia it is a specialist and not able to grow on sugars or different other substrates than purines.
