Francisella philomiragia, formerly Yersinia philomiragia, has been isolated from water, muskrats, fish and humans. F. philomiragia is able to cause an often fatal bacteremia in people with chronic granulomatous disease. This supspecies can also cause pneumonia in near-drowning victims.
