Lineage: Methylotenera versatilis; Methylotenera; Methylophilaceae; Methylophilales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria

General Information: Methylotenera sp. (strain 301) is an obligate methylotrophic Gram-negative bacterium specialized in degradation of organic compounds containing no carbon-carbon bonds (C1 compounds), most prominently methanol and methylamine. This ubiquitous bacterium has been detected in marine, freshwater, acid mine drainage, polluted soil, sedimentary rock and glacier environments, consistent with an important role in global carbon cycling.

Subject: NC_002939:1926084 Geobacter sulfurreducens PCA, complete genome

Lineage: Geobacter sulfurreducens; Geobacter; Geobacteraceae; Desulfuromonadales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria

General Information: This strain was isolated from surface sediments of a hydrocarbon-contaminated ditch in Norman, Oklahoma, USA. Common metal-reducing bacterium. This organism, similar to what is observed in Geobacter metallireducens, is one of the predominant metal-reducing bacteria found in subsurface communities.
