Lineage: Campylobacter jejuni; Campylobacter; Campylobacteraceae; Campylobacterales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria

General Information: Isolated from a blood sample of human bacteremia in South Africa. Causes food poisoning. This organism is the leading cause of bacterial food poisoning (campylobacteriosis) in the world, and is more prevalent than Salmonella enteritis (salmonellosis). Found throughout nature, it can colonize the intestines of both mammals and birds, and transmission to humans occurs via contaminated food products. Subject: NC_008578:2431074 Acidothermus cellulolyticus 11B, complete genome

Lineage: Acidothermus cellulolyticus; Acidothermus; Acidothermaceae; Actinomycetales; Actinobacteria; Bacteria

General Information: This organism is a thermotolerant cellulolytic actinomycete that was originally isolated from an acidic hot spring in Yellowstone National Park. A number of thermostable endoglucanases are produced by this organism, which are useful for degrading cellulose in the production of ethanol as a biofuel.
