Query: NC_009486:1293510 Thermotoga petrophila RKU-1 chromosome, complete genome Lineage: Thermotoga petrophila; Thermotoga; Thermotogaceae; Thermotogales; Thermotogae; Bacteria General Information: Thermotoga petrophila strain RKU-1 is an anaerobic thermophile, isolated from the production waters of the Kubiki oil reservoir in Niigata, Japan. This organism, a member of the Thermotogales, has the characteristic morphology of one or more cells contained in a sheath-like envelope which extends beyond the cell wall. Preliminary sequencing of Thermotogales genomes has identified extensive horizontal gene transfer between these organisms and the Archaea.
