Query: NC_008781:330919 Polaromonas naphthalenivorans CJ2, complete genome

Lineage: Polaromonas naphthalenivorans; Polaromonas; Comamonadaceae; Burkholderiales; Proteobacteria; Bacteria

General Information: Naphthalene-degrading bacterium. Polaromonas naphthalenivorans was isolated from naphthalene-contaminated, freshwater sediment. This organism is capable of aerobic degradation of naphthalene at temperatures of less than 20 degrees C. Naphthalene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH). PAHs can be toxic and/or carcinogenic, therefore PAH contamination is of considerable concern.

Subject: NC_013720:3925756 Pirellula staleyi DSM 6068, complete genome

Lineage: Pirellula staleyi; Pirellula; Planctomycetaceae; Planctomycetales; Planctomycetes; Bacteria

General Information: Isolation: Freshwater Lake Lansing, Michigan, USA; Temp: Mesophile; Temp: 20 - 25C; Habitat: Fresh water. Pirellula staleyi DSM 6068 is commonly isolated from freshwater environments. Pirellula staleyi is a pear-shaped bacterium having a life cycle consisting of an aggregate-forming sessile (non-motile) form and a motile swarmer cell. They have a pirellulosome, a large nucleoid-containing cellular compartment, which is surrounded by a single membrane.
