General Information: This organism is a nitrogen-fixing obligate endophyte first isolated from the roots of Kaller grass in the Punjab region of Pakistan. These organisms are never found in root-free soil and colonize root tissues without causing disease. This strain has been shown to express genes involved in nitrogen fixation in root tissue and is thought to provide significant amounts of nitrogen to its host plant.

General Information: Mycobacterium abscessus, formerly Mycobacterium chelonae subsp. abscessus, is a rapid-growing Mycobacterium sp., commonly isolated from soil and water. This organism causes a chronic lung infection, similar to tuberculosis, in patients with cystic fibrosis. Mycobacterium abscessus also causes wound and ear infections, and in immunosuppressed patients causes a generalized skin infection. This organism is very resistant to many commonly used antibiotics, which makes treatment difficult.
