General Information: This bacterium grows quickly and efficiently on media containing vinyl chloride and ethene. If starved of vinyl chloride for one day, it will not recover for more than 40 days. This strain was placed in the Nocardioides genus on the basis of 16S rRNA analysis.

General Information: Isolated from soil at an explosives testing facility. Can transform hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), a cyclic nitramine explosive. Many military ranges in the United States and Canada are contaminated with explosive and propellant residues. Of the nitroaromatic and nitramine explosives that exist on these sites, hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX) has a low sorption capacity and can migrate through soil into surface water and groundwater.
