Thiomicrospira crunogena is a chemoautotroph commonly isolated from deep sea and shallow-water hydrothermal vents. This organism uses the oxidation of reduced sulfur compounds (thiosulfate, sulfide and sulfur) to generate the energy necessary to fix carbon and plays an important role in the cycling of sulfur in the marine environment.

General Information: This is gram-negative bacterium pathogenic in plants. Characterized as causing halo blight on beans (Phaseolus vulgaris).
