Query: NC_000922:1147855 Chlamydophila pneumoniae CWL029, complete genome

Lineage: Chlamydia pneumoniae; Chlamydia; Chlamydiaceae; Chlamydiales; Chlamydiae; Bacteria

General Information: Isolated from the throat swab of a pneumonia patient. Bacteria belonging to the Chlamydiales group are obligate intracellular parasites of eukaryotic cells. They are found within vertebrates, invertebrate cells, and amoebae hosts. Chlamydiae are one of the commonest causes of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and if left untreated may cause infertility in women. They are transmitted by direct contact or aerosols, and can cause various diseases, while also being able to coexist with the host in an apparently asymptomatic state.

Lineage: Chlamydia pneumoniae; Chlamydia; Chlamydiaceae; Chlamydiales; Chlamydiae; Bacteria

General Information: An ocular isolate first isolated in 1965 from a child's conjunctiva (the membranes lining the eyelid) during a trachoma vaccine trial in Taiwan. However, it naturally causes respiratory rather than ocular infections. Causes respiratory infections in people.
