A strictly anaerobic, motile, non-spore-forming, thermophilic Gram-negative bacterium. Thermanaerovibrio acidaminovorans formerly Selenomonas acidaminovorans, can be isolated from methanogenic sludge and is able to ferment amino acids and carbohydrates.
