General Information: Hyperthermophilic crenarchaeota. Thermoproteus neutrophilus V24Sta was first isolated from a hot spring in Iceland. This organism is capable of autotrophic growth with sulfur as the electron donor and hydrogen as the electron acceptor, and is also able to grow heterotrophically on organic substrates.
